Question:
Has anyone had any problems with fibromylgia post-op?

Lorraine, I had my lap RNY in March, and for several years had had
increasing problems with fibromyalgia. At the time of the surgery, I was
taking the maximum dosage of a prescription anti-inflammatory twice daily
and still hurt all over, all day. Since the surgery, the fibromyalgia has
all but disappeared and all my medications have been discontinued...the
anti-inflammatory, 2 blood pressure meds, and 2 diabetic meds. This is my
personal experience, but I wish the same good fortune for you!

Loraine:
Good question about Fibromyalgia. Personally, I believe mine is much
better. I did not have a flare up after surgery, but my friend Jacque did
after her surgery. And, as Ave Lee said, surgery can cause fibro flares.
I haven't taken any fibro pain med since my surgery. I started at 275
pounds. I do still take my amytriptalene at bedtime for sleep though - but
some nights I skip it and still do well. I have a permanent handicap
parking permit which I am getting a bit embarassed to use sometimes
(though, as we know, there are days when it is necessary). I hope you do
well and as you lose weight, your fibro should bother you less and less.
