Janice,
I attend a great support group through the BTC and they try and
have different speakers occasionally, besides the gal who
runs the meeting. We have had some of the Doctors who perform
the surgery there, the nutritionist has stopped by a few times
since I have had my surgery, and a few of the staff people who
have had the surgery have come and talked about what has happened
to them as they get farther and farther post-op. We also started
a clothing exchange so some of us don't have to buy too many
clothes as we melt away. I think the best part is hearing from
the people who are farther out than I am and finding out the
wonderful things ahead of me. I also enjoy encouraging those
who come as preops- I remember all of the encouragement I received
from the people when I was postop and scared! A good support group
is a great way to stay pumped up post op, especially when you
hit a plateau or are sick of your post op diet (pureed!:).
Good Luck!

A plastic surgeon guest speaker was a really big hit for one of my area's
meetings.
