Peggy, My written members certificate (for Kraft Foods employees) specifically excludes weight loss treatment and surgery. Nevertheless, my PCP wrote an appeal letter to Dean Health Care asking them to consider covering WLS. On 05/29/02 I received a letter from Dean denying me coverage "because this procedure is not a covered benefit as outlined in your Member Certificate". Terribly frustrating catch-22! Do you have any suggestions?

I'm fighting Dean Care hmo also. I am attending a appeal hearing on July 24,2002. I will let you know how it goes.
