Question:
I dont understanf why you have to diet post-op
I know I am probably gonna get beaten up for asking this... but I really think its a valid question. Why is it necessary to diet after surgery? I am just not getting it thru my head. I had the BPD/DS and the only thing my surgeon told me that I should moderate is my sugar intake. Otherwise, I have the go ahead from him to eat what I want, when I want. Can someone please answer this? I am sure I am not the only one thinking about this question. Thanks in advance. — Kris S. (posted on May 18, 2000)

your right on track with what your doctor has told you, because A your
BPD/DS with a large proportion of your weitght lost comming from
malabsorption vs "restriction" of intake (ie; calories) as with
the RNY, which is the more popular procedure here on this sight that has
little to do with malabsorption and more of the amount a person can consume
unless they have had a distal RNY.
