Question:
Did anyone have this insurance and get approval?

If so what type of WLS did you have? Did the insurance company approve you right away? I'm starting my appeal and could use all the help I could get.Thanks Jen    — jen B. (posted on April 13, 2000)

Hi Jen, I had Prudential HMO in NJ and was approved immediately over the phone for an open RNY. I also know of several people around the country with Pru who were also approved right away. It seems to be one of the most WLS-friendly insurance companies. Did they say why you were denied? I'm upset with them, though, because they're dropping all individual policyholders in NJ (I'm self-employed) because of the Aetna buyout, so I'll be picking up Oxford PPO. I hope they're as easy to work with as Prudential was. Hi Jen, I have Prucare hmo (samething) I was approved within a week and a half, no questions asked. My doctor took care of all the paper work, I called a couple of times within the week to see how the process was going. Hope this helps, Just remember to keep on top of them. Good luck.
