Question:
How about a list of questions.
I saw my doctor already and don't you know as soon as I got home I had more questions to ask him. Do we have a basic list? You all are helping with my questions. What are some good questions that you should ask before surgery? — [Anonymous] (posted on March 20, 2000)

Hi there! Well, you are on your way! Yes there will be a multitude of
questions that you will forget to ask. Write them down as you go and then
also, take a look at this website for it was a Godsend to me. When I went
for my first visit, the doctor held a sortof "class" for all of
us considering surgery. This was great and gave us an idea of what type we
were meant for (each person has a reason for choosing a particular type)
but, the information had not been updated to include BPD post op foods as
the surgeon had done many more "ring" surgeries at that time than
BPD. so, I was under the impression that I would never again eat certain
foods ie: steak, hamburger, bread....that was false at the time and I
subsequently learned that not from the class but from on here actually.
Now they have updated everything but, a few weeks before "my"
surgery, I went crazy eating steak and hamburger which now, I enjoy to this
day. My biggest question would have to be mortality rates and how many
surgeries the doctor has done. I would find out more about the doctor and
hospital (will i be in intensive care, do the nurses know how to deal with
patients going through this surgery and are they compassionate ect.) than I
would worry about the other things. Those things you can find answers to
here. just wanted to jot down my thoughts and hopefully they will help
alittle bit. Good luck, Barb
