Question:
Suggestion for Eric - sections within the site for ALL types of WLS
Eric, after the recent turmoil over the different types of WLS, is it possible to split the different types of WLS into different sections? I am really frustrated about the whooe thing, including the censorship, but I feel it is necessary for all of us (DS, BPD, RNY, VGB and even the MGB) to share information to new-comers. Instead of all things being lumped onto one board, how about different boards for each surgery type so that folks can get the PROPER support and get their questions answered accurately. Thanks for your time. — Kris S. (posted on March 11, 2000)

Kris: I suggested this to Eric a week or so ago.. To have a page
listing all the many different surgery types and the subsequent postings
relating to that particular surgery. Then when someone asks for info
pertaining to that surgery we as members can just direct them to that
page.. No arguments, advertisements, innuendoes or nasty remarks..
Everyone on here was smart enough to get online I'm sure the capable
enough to read for themselves about the mechanics of each surgery and
the posts that follow on those pages. I even volunteered my time to
help set that up. No one expects us members to agree on everything, we're
only human and besides the sugeons can't seem to agree on which is
best either so why expect us too.. I think it solely depends on the
individual and their situation.

Different sections of the site for different communities? Yep, I've had
general plans for things of that nature for a while. Like a Men's forum. Or
perhaps something for LAP people. VBGs are starting (I think?) to become
less common, so, some special areas for that, etc. Also, all the geographic
localization which is possible. In the mean time, I may as well get
everyone's profile page to show what surgery type they had. That would
solve the immediate need for knowing where people are coming from.

Eric.... I am not sure how big your international community is, but just to
let you know that the VGB is a hot thing over here in Europe right now.
Very few places offer the RNY, except in the UK and to the best of my
knowledge, Dr. Baltasar in Spain is the only one doing the BPD/DS in
Europe, while Dr. Scorpinaro (italy) and another doctor in Antwerp, Belgium
are doing the plain old BPD.

I am so happy that someone finally said this! I used this site to become
informed when I started this journey and all of the support that came with
it was indeed a blessing. Now 3 months post op with a DS, I miss the
ability to correspond on this site. All too often all you see on the
subject is bashing and negative comments. I wish that we all, no matter
what procedure, would just see how it has helped us and comment on that
fact....not bash another persons choice or situation. Didn't we go through
enough of that when we were at our highest weights?!?!?! I would love an
area for the different sugeries..let me know if anyone would like to know
about my experience with the DS...I am here for anyone, as others where
here for me!

This was my suggestion to Eric awhile back in the "Do you want to
volunteer section" I e-mailed this direct to Eric: I suggested a
page listing all the surgery types & a concise description and
definition of that surgery along with links to verifiable source of
information (then include a small PIC of the procedure) then that
"PIC" by clicking on it becomes the door that takes you to
another page (the post forum) with all the members postings relating to
their experience and knowledge about "that particular surgery
type". I volunteered my time to help build these pages as I feel
this is greatly needed to benefit all new members and undecided members
on type of surgery they want to select and this may even attract more
doctors to this site so they can input on the particular surgery they
perform without fear on stepping on toes of another surgeon..
