Question:
Can a staple line disruption be dangerous to your health?
I have a VGB and I have a staple line disruption. The doctor would like to do a revision to RNY. The insurance keeps denying me. I am comcerned about the staple line. Do I have anything to worry about if I'm not able to have surgery? — Jennifer M. (posted on November 22, 1999)

jen,
hi. first of all ,who is your Dr.? Im not sure what you mean by a
disruption. I think this is a question that should be answered by the Dr.
Also if it is dangerous i think that your Dr. would be able to send a
letter to the insurance company stating that it needs to be re-done due to
the risk of your health. keep us posted on your progress. Also feel free to
call me. Im in oswego too. Good luck......Barb

Yes, I would say that it's dangerous. I had the procedure done 15 years
ago. I began gaining weight after 2 1/2 years. I gained back all I lost
plus many more. I am in the process of having mine revised to a RNY. Good
luck.
