Question:
Carolinas Medical Center (Charlotte, NC) won't allocate resources
Hi. I've just had a very discouraging call from my surgeon. After months of waiting for an appointment, and going through all the preop stuff, I've found out that the entire program at CMC here in Charlotte has been put on hold. Dr. Sing has requested additional manpower resources to continue the program, which has been very successful. The hospital won't respond after months of trying, so they are not scheduling any additional surgeries at this time. I am extremely upset. I have called the hospital administration and am waiting for a call back. I've also talked to the local media to see if they can ask the hospital why they won't respond. One TV station may do a spot on the cancellation of the program, and the discrimination faced in trying to get this kind of insurance. I won't know for another week. Any ideas on what else can be done? Thanks, Joyce — Joyce L. (posted on October 12, 1999)

Good for you! I think contacting the media is a great idea!
If they (media) would take some interest in this issue maybe people would
get the quality healthcare that they are entitled to! (Please excuse my
soapbox)
