Mine did change. Before my surgery, my menstrul cycle was off. I would have one every 3 months. This was very disturbing and the doctor told me I should be grateful to have one every 3 months. I was fustrated cause I wasn't prpared when I did come around and it was very imbarressing About 3 months after my sugery, my periods became normal and now more accidents.

Yes it does change. Usually for the better. Mine were always irregular and went from non-existent to heavy bleeding requiring medical intervention. Since WLS they have been steady, regular, light and preidictable.

Hi. I had gastric bypass in Oct. of 1998. I am 9 months post op. I weighed 305 and now I weigh 170. My menstrual cycle has not changed. Everything is basically the same.

Hi..... Just saw your question. You've probably already received several answers but I thought I'd throw in mine. Excess weight in itsself can cause problems with a womans period. The fat cells somehow interfer with the hormone product. Anyway after losing a significant amount of weight we have less fat cells. So this means less interference with the hormones. My period has become more regular with my loss of weight.

mYperiod was normal after surgery until i was 8 months post-op. i got my period so bad that i was having blood clots and i mean huge clots for about 3 hours. When I called my ob/gyn he said it could be from the weight loss because have lost so much weight(90 pounds so far) that my body doesn't know what happened to it. Luckily the bleeding stopprd or else he said that he may have to do a d&c. He said if it continues to be a problem that I may have to take birth control pills to regulate it. I'll just have to wait until next month to see what happens.
