Question:
Has anyone else experienced low energy & fatigue post-op?

I am 13 months post-op and I am still tired. I had a low energy level before surgery, but expected this to improve. I have lost 80#. I still have 79# to go. I am careful about my protein intake. I take Centrum, Biotin 600mg, Vit E 200IU, and a nutrient supplement for fruits/vegetables twice a day. I just started taking Siberian Ginsheng. As you may be able to tell I'm starting to get a little desperate. Actually frustrated. I welcome your comments and advise. Thanks.    — Penny W. (posted on July 23, 1999)

Have you had your iron level tested lately? I was experiencing the same symptoms. I just had my yearly check-up and that was what the problem was for me. I can already tell a difference after upping the dosage of iron and it has only been a couple of weeks. Good Luck. Lorinda

Have you tried protein? Not milk, but real protein? High protein, no milk, no sugar? I use 120g a day, but you'd probably hit high gear in a week on just 60g a day if you could find one you enjoyed.

You may want to try to increase your protien intake, I find that when I feel the way you describe and Then I take an extra protien drink, it picks me up. Also I am not sure about your vitamins you may want to try some that are specifically for people who have had surgery. if you go to WWW.vita4life.com you can order vitamins that were made just for people like us. I have been using them for about 6 months and they made a big difference. One more thing try look into is your B12 if it is low it can make you feel tired. Hope this helped

Sounds like you may be anemic? Are you getting regular blood work done? I have to take B-12 shots monthly ... and I can tell it's getting toward the end of the month when I am getting tired and run down ... You might check into this ... You're not clear on which surgery you had, but it sounds like perhaps you need more than Centrum for your vitamins & minerals. Good Luck! & Keep up the good work!!!
