Question:
How long after surgery is it safe to ride rollercoasters?
I love rollercoasters and I am planning a vacation with my kids in Feb or March, Will I be able to ride the rides? My surgery date is in late August? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 12, 1999)

First, check with your doctor, because I am not a medical doctor. I have
had my surgery 11 weeks ago, and I am in great shape. You should be able
to ride a roller coaster with no problems. Make sure you check with your
doctor before your vacation, and have fun.

Usually after six weeks you are released to do just about anything. I
would think by Febuary or March you should be okay. But check with your
doctor to be sure.

I don't know what a doctor would say, but I had surgery
11-4-98 and was on a roller coaster Memorial Day weekend.
Didn't seem to do anything to my insides. However I did
lose a pair of sunglasses :)

Well, I was pushing a lawnmower 3 weeks after open RNY because I had cabin
fever and had to get out and move. Then 3 months out, I rode every ride
possible at the state fair because it was the first time I have fit in all
those rides in years..LOL.and I didn't have the first problem. I hope you
have fun on that coaster!
