Question:
I would like to know what the rate of success for vgb is.?
I had a vgb in 93 and up until 2 years ago it was fine. But then I started gainig weight. I don't the vgb works anymore. I had a upper gi by my pcp and all she could see was a small hyanal hernia. What coulb be the reason this started to happen? I can eat more but I still get sick at times. I really don't think I could have stretced it. But maybe I can eat crackers the best. — Jennifer M. This is not uncommon after VBG. Although many people still
benefit from VBG years later, most will gradually strech their
pouch or breakdown their vertical staple line. "junk food"
is usually well tolerated, but unfortunately not a good
diet food. You may need to consider dietary counseling, inspecion
of your pouch through upper endoscopy, or consider a revision
or conversion to a Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass. Perhaps the
new pancreatic lipase inhibitor medications may by of benefit
as well. Discuss it with your surgeon or PCP.
