Question:
I've heard drinking ice-cold drinks may stretch your pouch.
I was told that as cold ice-cold drinks warm in your stomach they give off gases that can stretch your pouch. I always have a cold iced tea w/sweetener and lemon in it in my hand. I don't drink any carbonated beverages for this same reason. — Lorrilynn C. (posted on July 6, 1999)

All i drink is cold drinks and there
has been no signs of strecting for me. I'm still new though, three months.
As i understand it anything cold
will reduce any swelling you might have and liquids really don't stay
inside of your new stomach long enough to get that warmed up to affect you
that way.

I think they may be referring to carbonated drinks. I have been told that
carbonated drinks, whether diet or not, are a NO NO because the gas in them
can stretch your pouch. Perhaps the confusion comes because many people
will let diet sodas go flat (sit around opened) and then drink them. I do
know people who cannot tolerate ice wated, but drink room temperature water
just fine. It doesn't stretch their pouch, though...it's just that cold water bothers them.

Your drink temperature has nothing to do with your stomach stretching.
Stomach strecting is more related to the volume and & speed of eating.
