Question:
Has anyone had an iron infusion?

I am scheduled for an iron infusion and have no idea what to expect. I could use info from anyone who has had one.    — Darla K. (posted on September 27, 2005)

I have had several with no problems. Mine went like this-they hook up an IV then drip a dose of Benadryl and a dose of steroids then the iron. First time they do it real slow to make sure you have no problems, takes about 2-3 hours then is you need another one later , they will drip faster and only about 2 hours tops. I had no trouble at all with them and they made a world of difference. Good luck

hi, had my first infusion today, took well over 2 hrs. I have to have a port put in so they can do the infusions thru that. I'm having 3 infusions this week and then will come back after 3 weeks for bloodwork to see how often I'll have to have them after the intial 3. I'm scared about the port but worst thing about the infusion is the I.V.
