Question:
If you had surgery and medicaid paid for it, what special things did you have to do
to qualify? I have already set up an appointment for my seminar and they have all my Medicaid info. Is there anything specific that I have to have done to get acceptance? TIA — arlene713 (posted on October 16, 2004)

I had surgery September 2002 and Medicare/Medicaid paid for mine and I did
not have to do anything special for it thn for them to pay for it. Went to
the seminars and the small group senssion with surgeon. I did not even
have to have psyic eval. I had enough of co-morbids due to weight

One of my students is having WLS and he told me Friday that it is mandatory
for him to have a psych evaluation before he can even be considered for the
surgery. I live in Arkansas so the requirements may differ from state to
state.

All I had to do was have a psy-evaluation,done and 5 years worth of
pictures showing that I've been overweight for many years.

My surgery was approved in three days but I went to every Dr. that had
treated me for any health problems I had and ask for reports amd a
recomdation ,they where all willing to give it to me. I also went and got
my own pyc. eveluation and took it with me at my first meeting with my Dr.
Good luck all the work was worth it.
