I having taking trazadone years ago. I don't recall if it causes weight gain or not. I am now taking Lexapro; it is weight neutral. I was on Prozac for years but I never lost weight on it - didn't gain from it either. I am treatment resistant Bipolar so I take Lamictal as well as the Lexapro. I really like Lexapro. It works slower than Prozac and I haven't experienced any side effects from it. Sorry I don't know anything about remeron. Jeanette

The only thing I remember about trazadone was that it made me so sleepy and groggy that I stopped taking it. I didnt stay on it long enough to notice a weight difference.

Hi Dawn, Unfortunately I have been on many antidepressants for several years. I recognize many you have listed. Effexor nearly killed me when I went off of it, research shows that one in six will have something severe happen to them when they discontinue usage. (a little something I was not warned of.) I went to a regular Psychiatrist for a prescription because of all my allergies. You might consider trying that route. I was taking Lamictal, and now I take Trileptal. They are prescribed for those with depression, Anxiety disorder. Also treated in use for patients with Bi-polar disorder. What ever it is that bothers you personally, usually this type of doctor can pin point it and help you with the proper type of medication. good luck on your journey! Lisa Ryan

Hello Dawn, DO NOT TAKE ZYPREXA, everyone I know including myself that took it gained weight. I gained 20lbs in 1 month. I told the Dr. to get me off of it and the weight gain stopped. Thank god for that. The only anti-depressant that has worked for me is effexor, you have to give it a chance to work. I find effexor xr (extended rlease) is best taken in the am. I also take seraquel at night before bed to ease my anxiety and it helps me sleep. I use the website, www.health.yahoo.com to research medication and the side effects before taking them, that way you will know if one of the side effects is weight gain. We all know weight gain will make you more depressed. I hope this helps. Good luck and you may email me anytime. [email protected]. Shana

Hi Dawn Iv'e been taking trazadone for years. I have had no weight gain plus it's like a sleeping pill with no side effects. I have never increased my dosage (50 mg). I did stop taking it for awhile because I have not been depressed since surgery, but I missed the good nite sleep so I'm back on it. I was taking prozac at one time with trazadone and I was told it can cause weight gain. I was told wellbutrin has less side effects than prozac. Good Luck
