I feel your pain. I started at 389 pounds, 5'4", BMI 66. I lost 103 pounds at 11 months post-op. I have only lost 4 pounds since March of this year(2004). I considered the South Beach Diet but did not follow thru. It is like I just can not get my mind motivated to keep doing the right thing. I definetly do not want to go back to what I was. I have come to far. Everyday is a new day and I will keep trying until I succeed. Good luck to you on your journey.

Dawn, only a 108 lbs? I think that is a brilliant weight loss for 10 months. Please do not compare yourself to others how have had surgery. I know it is easy to do because I have done so myself. Remember we are all individuals and our bodies are different and will react different. Ask yourself if without surgery you would be a 108 lbs lighter. Probably not or you would not have had surgery. I would suggest you keep a food journal of everything that goes in your mouth. I did not do that in the beginning and it was hard to remember what I did eat and how much. A food log is great for when you hit a plateau or the weight is not moving. Another thing, are you exercising regularly. There are a whole host of things that could slow down your weight loss. Also you need to really pay attention to the ingredients in food. I have found that a lot of the so called, diet foods are loaded with sugar and bad carbs! But all in all, 108 lbs is something to be jumping for joy about!

I am now 2 1/2 years post-op. Started at 306 and have dropped 135#. I am 5'7" and feel great. I basically eat according to the South Beach Diet. I am wearing a size 12 from a 26 1/2. I work out a lot and have a lot of muscle and about 24% body fat right now. Pretty lean compared to where I started.
