I have had great success with Glacial Milk. I found it at Costco. It is in
liquid form and tastes like a strong version of Tang. I have used it since
I was 3 month post op. and I am now 2 1/2 years post op. They have a web
site so you can check them out: glacialmilk.net
Hope it helps. Good luck!

Remember that surgeons and nutritionists seem to vary widely in their
general recommendations for protein and vitamin supplementation. There are
five of us in our family who have had proximal RNY surgery, and we are
between 18 months to 4 1/2 years post-op. Our surgeon is one of the
original founders of today's RNY procedure. His recommendation to his
patients is to take a chewable multivitamin twice a day for the first three
weeks post-op; then patients may change to any multivitamin with iron of
their choice, to be taken twice daily for the remainder of their lives. We
have all taken a high-potency One-A-Day tablet, which is a very small
tablet, and have had absolutely no problems. Our serum B-12 and iron
values have always remained within high normal levels, without the need for
additional supplementation. Patients who have more distal procedures may
experience higher degrees of malabsorption. My personal opinion is that
tablets versus chewable is not really the issue....the more important issue
is that you remain faithful to the instructions to take your vitamins and
calcium supplements as prescribed for the rest of your life, and that you
maintain regular lab checks (we are told that once a year is sufficient) to
insure that your levels of B-12, iron and calcium are being maintained in
the normal range. Best wishes!

I just love gummy vites... they're really tasty, fruity, gummy bears with
vitamins... they're for kids, so I triple the daily dose. It's just like
eating regular gummy bears, so I use them as a sweet daily treat! You can
get them just about anywhere, but the economy size is handy @ Sam's Club.

After 4 wks post op, I began taking all my vits in capsule form. Twinlab
makes multivits and calcium carbonate in capsules that seem to disolve fine
(my surgeons nutritionist gave me my first sample since I was a little
skeptical). Check with your surgeon and good luck!~~~

Sorry, I made a mistake in saying "carbonate" (the no no form).
Twinlab makes a calcium CITRATE in capsule form-so far so good!

Me too . . . I am 13 months post -op and I hated all of the chewable
/liquids. I take One A Day Maximum and break it in half now . . . before in
thirds. It is quick disolving and my labs are always perfect.
Godd Luck . . . Michele :) RNY 6/6/03 -112

My nutritionist said to simply get a good multi-vitamin (aka *horse-pill*)
and break it in half. I find that getting the store-brand is much cheaper
and has the save vits/minerals something like Centrum). Meijers brand has a
good one that is called Advanced Formula or something like that....and they
frequently go on sale, buy-one-get-one-free. Good luck to you!
