Question:
Has anyone one felt a hardness in the belly area?
I am 11 weeks out and right below my belly button I have a three inch incision line, and when I press my fingers on either side of this line it feels like there is a hardness. I have lost about 35 lbs and I just started to work out, but my stomach is pouchie in this area. My dr. office says this could be scar tissue and in that case it will not go away, and for me first to try a heating pad on it for three days because it might be trapped liquid. My three days are over and its still hard. Any ideas? I had a DS Lap. — linda T. (posted on June 20, 2004)

I am recovering from an surgery on an incisional hernia.
Have it checked out, it sounds like you have a hernia.
It's great you are working out but stay from strenghth training until you
find out for sure. Walk, stair climb, cross trainer are fine --no weights
thats how I messed up and it got larger

Terri...I don't know if this will help or not. But, after my surgery, I
had a really hard area surrounding my biggest incisional scar. This was
where they positioned the biggest piece of equipment for the surgery (the
camera). I figured it was a hematoma (collection of non-absorbed blood),
so I just kept checking it each week. It started out where it would feel
my palm completely whenever I laid my hand over the area. It slowly
absorbed back into the tissue and went away. If it is a hematoma, it will
slowly re-absorb into your tissues. If you are concerned, please check
with your surgeon. Hope this helps.
