Question:
Are there testimonials out there regarding VBG to RNY surgeries?
I have done my research on the RNY surgery but what I am missing is details on a VBG to RNY conversion. My surgery is scheduled for 6/30 and I would really like to be armed with as much information as possible, possibly some testiomonials (both good and not so good please). — Suzanne C. Did you try doing a search in the library, on VGB revision?

I had VBG done april of 2002 and had RNY done Dec 2003 I have done good
your weight loss maybe slower but it will be worth it. I have loss more
weight with the RNY at this point then I loss the whole time with the VBG.
I wish I would have had it at 1st. I am down 62 pounds. I never loss that
much with the VBG. I am not hungry at all I get full fast I have just got
to the place where I can drink water so this may help my weight loss. My
down time was not as bad either I had lab with the VBG and Open RNY and did
better with the open I guess I just knew that I would be in lots of pain
but it wasnt bad at all. Good Luck

Suzanne,
Let me recommend that you go to www.groups.yahoo.com and do a search on
OSSG, WLS, or revision and join up with a few groups. It's very
educational and telling.
I saw a document about 6 months written by a surgeon who felt that the VBG
had an 85% failure rate. I personally know about 10 VBG to DS conversion
patients, so you gotta know there are quite a few of them out there, and
I'm sure probably willing to share some of their journey with you.
Blessings,
dina

I almost had the VBG and luckily found out in time that the RNY would
eliminate my GERD (reflux) and the VBG wouldn't. I know another girl who
had VBG and is still suffering from GERD wished she would have known this
info B/4. This might not even apply to you, but I thought I'd mention it in
case it did. Good Luck!
