Question:
does it hurt to workout? buy a pool!!!!!
i know when i was at my top weight of 350 working out and even walking was painful. now i'm 15 pounds from goal and being more creative in my activities. all the things that i wished i could do pre-op i'm doing. things like being more out going, sightseeing(even in my own town), playing with my kids, going for walks in parks ect... my family has been so much happier since my wls. because i no longer stand on the sideline, but i now join in. i even showed my daughter how to do a cartwheel and her mouth opened in shock and then in giggles lol! since summer is here i have decided to get a pool. i thought this would be a good idea to mention to people who are having a hard time working out because of their weight and other healthy issues.water arobics is a great workout and also helps to tone. this way i can workout AND have fun with my kids. as parents we are the biggest role models in our children's lives. it is up to us to show them how to be active and healthy so they don't end up unhealthy. i even bought a kick ball today. i told the kids that they couldn't play with it unless i got to play too lol. all the neighborhood kids joined in and it was great. — franbvan (posted on June 9, 2004)

I agree!!! I joined my local YMCA and have been doing water aerobics for 3
months. It is one of the best exercises plus little to no impact on your
joints. I didn't care about people seeing me in my bathing suit, I was
there to work out. Buy a "noodle" at WalMart for a couple
dollars and use in the pool like a weight. If you have a pool with a deep
end, you'd be amazed at what you can do. There are videos you can buy too.
But, just walking laps in your pool will do wonders. Go a few laps,
switch directions and repeat. I love the water and now, because of my
weight loss so far (-116 lbs, surgery date 12/10/03) I also walk about 2
miles every day along with my water aerobics. Take Care Everyone!

I love the pool. Last Sept. I could barely walk and they told me I needed
to workout I thought ya right. Well let me tell you it wast the best thing
I ever did was stepping in that pool. You weight nothing in the water and
it was so freeing to be able to walk and move with little or no pain. I
went from not being able to walk to being able to go back to work part time
and no more cain. THE POOL IS THE BEST. Congrats on your weight loss and
all the fun that you are having with your kids and with life.
