Question:
Has anyone heard any rumors about Carnie Wilson gaining weight back?
My husband was listening to one of the local radio stations a couple of days ago (he said it was WWJ in Detroit), and he said that he heard something about Carnie Wilson regaining about 70 lbs. Has anyone else heard this? — Kris T. (posted on May 21, 2004)

There was a People article where she said she gained 10... actually, that
article is pretty great, since it talks a lot about people regaining after
surgery!

She was in Shreveport, LA for a talk about WLS last weekend. I know a few
people that went and they said she looked great. There is no truth to that
rumor I am happy to report.

OMG -- I am so sick of this rumor. Yes she has gained a few pounds back,
but it's not EVERY pound she lost. We just have to face facts that there
are people out there that thrive on others "mis-fortunes". I
don't remember her name, but there is an AMOS member that was asked in an
elevator if she had gained back her weight -- she had lost over 100lbs. HOW
totally insensitive. The clods that say this type of things -- I hope are
the same people that will one day know how it feels to be humilitated.
Sorry but "skinny" people (that's what I call the people who have
never had weight problems)have NO idea how it feels to be us. We are NOT
looking to fail, but we have a monkey on our back that will never go away.
We have lost the weight and get the compliments, but the minute someone
suspects that we gained 3 ounces, they rub our face in it. I blame in on
our media (tv,radio, publications) -- BAD news sells --GOOD news doesn't.
We have become a society of dwelling on the bad/the glass is half empty.
TO all WLS patients and Future WLS patients -- we have to stick together
whether we succeed or not!!!!!!!!!!!! We need each other to get through the
goodtimes and bad. I love this site!

Kris -- my posting is meant as NO disrespect to you or your husband -- just
the IDIOTS on the radio!!! I understand why we WLS patients will discuss
this -- we are just all fearful of regaining our weight -- I know that is
my fear!!! I re-read this and didn't want you to think I was biting your
head off --just the jerk DJ's! --

CHECK MY PROFILE FOR A RECENT (4/24/04) PHOTO OF CARNIE WITH ME AND MY
HUSBAND TAKEN IN HINCKLEY, MINNESOTA.
At the program, she spoke for an hour or so and said she got down to 150 at
the lowest and has re-gained about 10 pounds. It has been 5 years. This
is normal according to my surgeon and other research I have done. She
isn't very tall and looks to be about a size 6 or 8. She denied being
pregnant (another constant rumor) but said they would like to try in the
future.

I wish everyone would stop scrutinizing her and other celebs who chose WLS.
I don't want people scrutinizing me so I don't think they deserve it
either. She and others will struggle just like the rest of us will at
times. They are after all just human.

Thanks for all of your responses! I just looked at one of the profiles
with her recent picture on it and she looks great, there is no way she has
regained! When I asked my question it was not meant to scrutinize her in
any way, if it seemed like I was Iam very sorry. I was just trying to find
out if that rumor was true, since I hadnt seen a picture of her for quite
sometime. That rumor obviously isnt true! Some of the DJ's out here in
Detroit can be real idiots! I also read that one question a few weeks ago
about someone asking a member here if she had regained all of her weight.
That was extremely insensitive! If someone had asked me that I dont think
Id have been so calm. Well anyway, thought Id let y'all know that.
