Question:
how will you celebrate your 1 year aniversary??
i have been wondering how i will celebrate my one year point. i have been married for 12 years and have 2 wonderful children. i could not have had a better support team. they have cheered for me every step of the way. eventhou i have been married for 12 years we have never gotten a family photo taken because i couldn't bear to be infront of a camera. on the day of my one year point i will be having our first family picture taken. i also want to let my family know how much their kind words and deeds helped me. i'm going to write a letter to my family and read it to them on my 1 year aniversary. i know if i don't write it down my emotions will start to take over and i don't want to forget to tell them anything letting them really know how much i love them and how important they have made me feel in each of their lives. my aniversay date is still some time away aug 21, and i am ONLY 30 pounds to goal. things have happened so fast that i still have to take a double take sometimes at my refection just to make sure it's really me. i'm so glad i have been able to crawl out from under my layers of fat so that i could start to really live instead of hiding and hurting. best of luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — franbvan (posted on May 4, 2004)

I got a beautiful butterfly tatoo on my ankle, I picked a butterfly to
symbolize my transformation.I have lost 100# but still have 20 - 25 lbs to
goal, but if I don't lose another lb I will be happy, I feel and look 100%
better than I did one year ago. My rebirthday was 4/2/03.

I have heard others in AMOS say that your surgery date is your
"other" birthday. Have a good time!

I spent mine back in the hospital with my surgeon! My gastric bypass
surgeon performed a gall bladder removal exactly 1 year after my WLS. To
be honest, he is so cute I didn't mind spending it in his care!

I pampered myself with a one hour massage and pedicure. Very relaxing. I
think I will do it again for my 2nd year anniversary.

I hadn't even thought about my anniversary and spending it in a really nice
way. I love the idea of the family portrait! I too have been married 12
years and have 3 beautiful daughters. My husband and children have been
wonderful! They have always loved me no matter what I looked like and
haven't treated me any differently since I've lost 80 pounds. This, I think
is the most wonderful gift of all! I think I'll plan something special for
them even though, like one of the others, I will be in surgery having my
gallbladder out on that day! I had my Gastric Bypass surgery on August 26th
and will be under the knife again this August 26th!!

I think I'll do the family portrait as well. I've been hiding from the
camera for so long, I need to get it done! I'm also thinking that
afterwards, I'll take the nicest one and have it painted and put in a nice
frame. I saw an ad in the yellow pages for a pretty good size painting for
about $500.

My 1 yr was 10/21 and I spent part of the day with my surgeon having my 1
yr checkup. I felt the need to have my checkup ON my anniversary. Other
than that, I went to work and pretty much it was forgotten. My friends are
planning a big bash for my 2 yr, but I am hoping that I will be recovering
from my TT. :-)

I went on a cruise with my Mom, Dad and sister. They were/are the 3 people
who were there for me from the first thought of WLS. They helped me
through all the rough patches and gave me a good kick in the butt when I
needed it. That was more than a vacation, it was a celebration. One that
I will never forget. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine.

What a wonderful idea you had about the portraits and the letter. I don't
really remember what I did on my anniversary on October 23, 2003, but I
really consider it my second b-day. I don't recognize myself in a mirror
still and even people that I know really well but haven't seen in a long
time don't even recognize me. A weird but great feeling.

I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary on June 26 which is my
daughter's wedding day! I have lost 120 lbs so far and can you believe she
asked me to be her Matron of Honor along with my other daughter! I feel
like I'm too old to be a bridesmaid but this is her wish! Actually I'm
getting very excited because there will be many relatives that don't even
know I had the surgery. Hee Hee!!

My one year anniversary is the day after yours...August 22nd. I will be
spending a week in Las Vegas as celebration/scouting trip. I hope to move
there next year. I thought it would be a nice way to celebrate.
