Question:
after weightloss how long did it take for your skin to really shrink
up and look normal? did you think you were going to need ps and then didn't because it looked normal? i'm 8 months out and wondering if my arms are going to shrink up any. — franbvan (posted on April 24, 2004)

Hmmmm, looks down at tummy....2.5 years and still
waiting.

Actually, a few months after I hit goal things
seemed to catch up. Just not quite like they should. Let the air out of a
balloon and it shrinks back down, but never like it was before you blew it
up. ;)

Hi Fran: I'm coming up on 3 years post op and had a TT 3 months ago.
Stomach never shrunk up like it should. But I think I'm a lot older than
you by the picture of you in you profile. I think age and genetics have a
lot to do with it. I know another woman who lives near me and you'd NEVER
know she lost over 100 pounds. You can still really tell in my arms and
legs. Both have improved with time, but if I had the money they both would
get taken care of too. I had a breast reduction done preop RNY and those
flattened out to nothing, but I'm not going to worry about them. LOL Good
luck in shrinking enough to avoid surgery. It's definitely the best if it
happens that way for you. S

Fran, unless you are a teenager, I don't think the skin every catches up, I
think over time it gets worse. I have been down from 305 to 180ish since
August of 2003, I haven't lost any weight since, so, in the last 6 mos, my
skin has begun to look worse. It hangs more and more, nothing helps. So,
the only way is PS! I am having my LBL on May 11th, flat tummy, no more
saddle bags, I CANNOT WAIT!

If you are talking about arms, don't expect much. After losing over 150
lbs, I thought my arms would look better. Yes they are smaller, but they
hang considerably. I am more worried about how they look now then when they
were big. All I ever thought of wanting to do when I lost weight was to be
able to wear sleeveless shirts and that still won't be happening. They are
pretty bad so I'll be having some ps work done on them when I can afford
it. Right now I'm working on the bottom half first.

My arms didn't shrink up at all. After I had liposuction on them, they
shrunk up tremendously!!

I've lost 106 pounds, only 20 pounds from personal goal and thought I would
only need PS on my arms but sometime within the last two weeks, my tummy
started looking like a balloon with the air let out. I'm 56 so know that my
skin will never "catch up" with the weight loss but can't decide
whether to pursue PS for the rest of me or not. I don't particularly want
to go thru all the pain so I might just live with the deflated balloon
effect unless it gets to be a problem.
