Question:
Does thin equal daily pain?

I have been below goal weight for some time now. However, I suffer from intestinal cramps every day. I know I am lactose intolerant since the surgery, but some days no matter what I put in my pouch I have the pain. I just wonder if I have traded being thin for life long pain. I sure hope not! Any long-term folks out there have similar issues or advice? I am 15 months post-op. 252/116    — sherry H. (posted on April 5, 2004)

You should not have daily pain. Why would you even think that? Go see your doctor. And, for intestinal stuff you may have to see a gastro-enterologist, you may have IBS. For the milk try lactaid or GNCs version of lactaid, and they also have other food digesting enzymes - I am not a GNC or product promoter or anything, I just know I have family members for whom those things help. GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!! Call now!

I had the dame thing and when I start hurting I chew a Pepcid complete and within 1 hour the pain is gone. That is what my doctor told me to do, the best thing is to go see your doctor and get his advice.

Remember pain is NOT normal. It is a sign that something needs to be fixed. I agree with the other posts. See a gastro and get checked out, then let them help you find the best treatment. There are many types of treatment, but you have to have a diagnois first. Best of luck!

You should see your doctor and insist on getting some testing done. There are several reasons, like the others have said, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)lactose intollerance, as you mentiond, and maybe adheasions, these cause cramping and pain also, its scar tissue, that needs to be clipped and removed. good luck, I hope you can get to the bottom of this, and get it resolved.

Go to the Dr. my pain ended up being an ulcer. There should be no reason to be in pain, I think I have the old ways of thinking sometimes, it took me a few months of burning radiating pain before I went in. I guess part of me still thinks that they will ignore me like they did when I was morbidly obese, it was easier to blame all the aches and pains on the weight rather than look for a cause. Take care of yourself.
