Question:
Being flown down to San Diego
My PCP in Sacramento says Kaiser will fly me to San Diego for the surgery. What do they pay for? Only me? He said they also pay for a hotel room. Why? Is that to stay near the hospital for a while after the surgery? — Shrinking M. (posted on March 7, 2004)

Kaiser will buy you a plane ticket to go to your pre-op appointments (3
appts. in one day), and then another ticket down and back for the surgery.
They will make you a reservation at a nearby hotel, and pay the full price
for all the nights YOU are there. The nights you are in the hospital are
your responsibility if you do not check out. My husband was with me, and
stayed at the hotel the two nights I was in the hospital, so of course we
were responsible for that. Kaiser also pays for your taxi to and from the
San Diego airport for appointments and surgery. Best of luck to you!

Once you go through the process, you will find out if you are going to San
Diego or if you will go to the Kaiser facility in the bay area. If you
want to check out the San Diego option, go to the web site of Pacific
Bariatric. There are monthly seminars in Sacramento.
