Question:
I WILL BE A YEAR OUT ON FEBRUARY 17. SO FAR I'VE LOST

97 PDS. I'VE GONE FROM 236 TO 139. A SIZE 22 TO A SIZE 8. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY REAL PROBLEMS BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS WHEN I EAT (BUT NOT ALL THE TIME) I GET REALLY REALLY FULL AFTER A COUPLE BITES AND THEN I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO BURP BUT I CAN'T AND THEN I GET A REALY HEAVY FEELING IN MY CHEST AND I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO THROW UP. I'M NOT ONE TO THROW UP SO I HAVE TO JUST WAIT IT OUT. ANY IDEA AS TO WHAT'S CAUSING THIS? AFTER AWHILE WHEN I CAN BURP I DO FEEL BETTER.    — sandy V. (posted on February 2, 2004)

Congrats on the weight loss :o) I have that problem on and off, some say it's the chewing, how fast your eating or what you are eating. I'm not sure the answer, but in my case, I have noticed I get that when I eat too fast. Good luck!

i am 3 1/2 months out, i had this feeling since surgery and it got worse. i finally went for a scope an it turned out to be both a stricture and 2 ulcers. please talk to the surgeon don't wait and suffer the way i did. the procedure to open the stricture is very simple. i hope you all will be well and feel better. paula

I am only 3 1/2 weeks post op, but talked to my Dr. about that same feeling and like the first poster I was told I was eating too fast. Since then if I take my time, chew carefully and just SLOW DOWN I do not get that feeling. My Dr. said that because our opening into the stomach is smaller it needs time for the food to go in, if you put a lot in at one time it piles up in the esophogus, thus the chest pain! Good luck, but if this doesnt seem to be the problem for you Id see the Doc!
