Question:
Is Zithromax safe after WLS. I am 1 year post-op and have a sinus infection.
I was put on Zithromax today and just wondered since it's for 3 days only but stays in the system longer is it going to be safe on my new tummy? — Carol V. (posted on November 28, 2003)

They have a 3 day course of that now? I always take the Z-pack which is a
five day course...and it works for 90% of my infections. Didn't take care
of the very last one though, but it took 5 different antibiotics before one
took :>( Good luck! (oh and yes, it is safe for the pouch!)

Thank you Ruth. They do have a 3 day dose....it's called the Zithromax
Tri-Pack....3-500mg tablets. About $45 but worth it if it will clear this
up in time for my lower body lift. Glad to know it's safe, I saw a doctor
at the family practice clinic today that I normally don't see and forgot to
mention to him that I had had a gastric bypass. He didn't spend much time
looking through my chart and after I got home started wondering if it was
OK....thank you again for your reply.

I took Z-pak when I was a month post-op from my RNY with not problems at
all.
