Question:
Too much Wendy's chili??

I'm 4 1/2 months out and have lost about 60 pounds. I just ate an entire Wendy's chili (small) for lunch and was able to finish the whole thing. So I looked up the nutritional info and it turns out the darned thing is 8 oz.!! Isn't this a little too much stomach capacity for someone who's only 4 months post-op??? It's not the calories I'm concernced about - it's the fact that I just downed 8 ozs with no problem! Is it possible that my pouch has stretched more than it should have at this point??    — Tiffany J. (posted on November 18, 2003)

HI, I TOO LOVE WENDYS CHILI AND THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I CAN FINISH A WHOLE SMALL ONE, NOT ALL THE TIME BUT SOMETIMES, SO DONT FEEL ALONE, I WONDER THE SAME THING AS YOU IM 5 MONTHS POST OP TODAY AND I HAVE LOST 77 POUNDS. SHELLY

That's soft food. It doesn't stay in the pouch. You try eating 8 oz of chicken and see if you can get it down. ;) You're fine. I worried because I can eat a whole small Lean Cuisine (8-10oz) at 4 months. I called my nutritionist and she said some people at 2 mos can eat a whole one.

Wendy's chili... blech!!! I use to love it but now post-op I can't stomach the thought of it. But... it's liquidy and so naturally you can eat more of it than regular solid protien.

I agree with the others that it is a soft/liquid'y' food and it passes quicker than something more dense. But just a little FYI here: around 4 months I noticed (what seemed to me)that I was able to eat a substantial amount more than I have the 2 months prior. It scared the heck out of me. I thought I had ruined something, but after some research I found that our pouches relax some around that time. Sometimes I can eat more, sometimes not. I wouldn't worry too much, just continue to be careful. It sparked me to start measuring everything that went into my mouth. BTW, congrats on the 60 lbs. I think that's great! Pam

I'm all for the soft food theory, but at 2+ years out....I can't finish one. And I can eat alot.

I'm definitely starting to notice the soft vs dense food differences. I don't eat much Wendy's chili, but I make a lot of it at home. I'm only 2 months post-op, and I can eat about 3/4 C. But when I try to eat that much meat or chicken, NO WAY! I wouldn't worry too much, I don't think you've stretched your pouch.

You may find it will also depend on the day that you get it. Some days we seem to be able to eat a substantial amount and others barely anything at all. ALSO Wendy's chili is never the same consistancy from one day to the next. Some days it's very watery and others very thick. The thinner it is, the more I can eat lol
