Hi Dawn, I am 3 mos post op. I had to eat puree for six weeks, but after six weeks I didn't just jump to solids, I kind of "transitioned". Some of the first few things that I ate was tuna on a cracker, a thin piece of cheese with dill mustard on a cracker, a piece of the meat from dinty moore beef stew, a very tender eye of a prime rib, inside of a baked potato with light sour cream, etc. Take it slow. When I try something new, I take a small bite and put my fork down for a few minutes and wait to see what happens when the food hits bottom. Some things don't sit well with me like white meat chicken. It's too dry. Dry things sit in my pouch forever, so I always try to have mustard, gravy, lite sour cream, etc with my food to give it a softer texture. Like the previous poster said, pouchie has a mind of its own, and something that worked one day doesn't always go down good the next time. So I just eat slow and give my pouch a chance to let me know how it feels about certain food. You don't want to take 5 bites of something that isn't going down good because it will likely come up again shortly after! I like stuffing and 1/2 piece of peanut butter toast, but I don't eat it too often because of carbs. I do good with sliced and peeled cucumber and dip, and watermelon too. I also keep a bag of cashews in my car in case I get hungry while I'm in the car. I can't eat a meal on the go anymore, the rush and not being able to sit and eat slowly upsets my stomach. Good luck!
