I am 7 weeks post op down 69 lbs and I drink 32 ounces every other day or so. I usually dilute it a little and sip it. The sugar has not bothered me yet.

Gatorade is full of sugar, relatively speaking, but it also has electrolytes, which help with dehydration in those first few days after surgery. Some dilute it with water and drink it just those first few days after you get home from the hospital, to help stay hydrated since it's hard to get all your water in the beginning. Beyond that, drinking sugary liquids is not a good habit to get into, and there's always the possibility of dumping in large enough amounts. JMHO.<P>I wouldn't leave the skin on chicken wings, as there's a lot of fat in the skin.

Propel water is made by Gatorade and has splenda in it. Very good and refreshing. Has vitamins, minerals etc added. Worth checking out.

I am 12 days post op and sip on Gatorade daily. My Dr. told me to drink it because I am having problems with getting enough water in.

Hi, I agree with Mary that Propel is great but be careful. I can drink it all day with no problem but several of my "post-op" friends dump on it. It is sweetened with sucrose (only 2 grams) but for some reason their pouches rejected it. I cannot drink gatorade, the sugar causes me to dump but I absolutely love sugar free Kool-aid. Tropical and cherry are the best. Each glass only has about 5 calories and it is a nice change. Good Luck! Reace

Until last week I drank 20oz of Gatorade pretty much daily. I had a very hard time drinking water and was very concerned about dehydration. My Dr recommended it at one point and I just kept it as part of my daily intake. I never had a problem with the sugar in Gatorade so I never diluted it. I think 8oz of the Orange Gatorade had about 14 grams of sugar. I have tried the Propel, so far I can't find a flavor I like. When I asked about drinking it, a lot of people said it's loaded with sugar, carbs, and calories we don't need. Didn't stop me from drinking it. I figured it was better than being dehydrated.
