I'm so glad you are considering having the surgery done. I had mine done
July 24th. The first thing that I did was call my insurance provider to
find out if they covered the wls and once they told me yes. Then I went
ahead and started searching for the doctor. In the process I continued to
do tons of research on the surgery, I wanted to know what I was getting
into. From there on the doctor will guide or his assistant on all of the
steps that need to be taken. I wish you the best of luck to you and I hope
you will join us on the loosing side.

Hi Jonathon, If you go to the top of the web page you will see "Your
journey". Click on that and it has the process pretty well laid out.
It is what I used to get started and get my paperwork, dr's and insurance
in order. Also, don't forget to look in the library for old Q&A. More
than likely you will always find that a question you have about any part of
your journey has been answered many times. I called my insurance co 1st,
but as I have learned, they really don't give straight answers. I was
approved in 3 days, but they wouldn't even discuss it until my surgeon
presented the paperwork and letter of medical necessity. Many surgeons have
seminars, you may want to go to one.

The best thing to do is to do as much research as possible. Know that
there are different procedures (RNY, DS, Lapband.) Learn all you can about
each and every one, the pros and the cons. Get on many support groups and
see what the day-to-day life is like. You will know which procedure is
best for you. Then find a doctor and deal with the insurance process. Use
the internet to do your research. Sheryl (Love my Lapband)
