Question:
Is there a web site that shows before and after pictures?
I am scheduled for brachioplasty (sp) on 10/17. I am having to self pay $3000 and I would like to see some photos to make sure it will be a noticable difference. I didn't think to ask when I went for my consultation. — Tawnda C. (posted on September 12, 2003)

The WLS Site has hundreds of before and after pictures. Just click on
PHOTOS at the top of the page or go here ...

I haven't heard of a before/after picture site for plastic surgery but if
you post on the message board, some people might be willing to share
pictures with you.

Just do an internet search on brachioplasty. I did one on belt lipectomy
and found all kinds of pictures. It actually was very inspiring and
reassuring that the pain will be worth it and produce great results. I
made some comment about my arm to the PS and he said he does lots of them
with wonderful results. People are very happy. I'm sure you will be too.
For me the arms bug me the least, even though they have lots of wrinly
hanging skin, and may or may not ever get done. Good Luck!

I just had brachioplasty 10 weeks ago, and yes it is a noticeable
difference. As I'm sure you know, though, you will be left with a long
scar from the elbow to the armpit. Sometimes they need to go a little
below the elbow and once up into the armpit it usually stops and they Y's
off. Another thing to prepare for.....when you take those bandages off and
for the first 2 weeks or so, you have swelling. And actually, you still
look good because even with the swelling, your arms will probably be a lot
smaller than they were to begin with. The only let down is that the
swelling goes away and your skin is able to relax....gravity does take over
and you will still have some hanging and jiggling. I had a consult with 3
different plastic surgeons and they all told me that it is impossible to
get rid of ALL the skin because you can't cut up all the way to the muscle
and into the nerves or you may have lifelong problems. Would I do it
again! Yes! I paid of out pocket for the brachioplasty and breast
implants at the same time and the pain, for me, was absolutely minimal. In
fact, the arms never hurt at all....mostly just the tightness in the arm
pit. I did take my Vicodin regularly for the first several days though to
ward off the pain. Good luck to you!

I had a brachioplasty in March of 2000 and my arms are still very tight and
great looking. I do work out so that may make a difference. If you want to
see pics, you can go to my surgeon's website: www.sjacosmeticsurgery.com
and click on "cosmetic procedures." Then click on "arm
lift." The first set of arm pics are me!! WARNING: this was before my
TT so the front shot is a bit scary. But the arms look great. Good luck
with your surgery. I've had it all but if I could only have done ONE thing,
it would be the arms. Makes a huge difference. And by now my scars are
invisible. hugs,
