Question:
I was approved for TT and Lower Body Lift. I need information.

I am getting RS surgery (Surgery is scheduled Jan) and I'm scared! I am getting the Lower body lift w/ the TT and I want to know what im going to feel after. I'm so excited and yet scared enough to back out(im going in blind folded). Was it worth the pain? Thanks for the info!    — Sandy M. (posted on September 5, 2003)

I cannot answer your question but wanted to say congrats on your insurance company realizing this is the final piece of when they approved WLS. I am going for a consult next week just for some fact finding but I will be pretty shocked if mine ends up covering anything. <p>Just a word of caution, from an insurance standpoint. If you have a policy that runs from Jan to Jan then be very careful. Your employer could choose a new policy or decide to exclude some things etc. It really would be safest to get it done in late december so it is within this calendar year. Even though you have written approval from the insurance company you now have, it won't be valid if your employer makes a change. That is exactly what I am faced with. I know our policies are changing on Jan 1st and I don't know too much right now. I am fairly confident that I will have the best possible chance of an approval, which is slim, with the insurance I have now. So if I got an approval I would be going through surgery earlier than ideal and at a heavier weight than ideal. But if it's free I feel I need to go for it. If it won't be covered then I will wait it out some and see how things look early next year as I approach my 1 yr anniversary.

Sandy, It is SO worth it!! I think I was more scared with my extended TT, brachioplasty and breastlift (all done at the same time!) than I was with the WLS. Which is hard to fathom cause I was scared shitless! I can't tell you how much better I feel after the PS. I feel 'normal'! I don't have this disgusting skin hanging off of me, I don't 'hide' behind my clothes anymore, etc. I actually will wear belly shirts and sleevless tops! Go for it. Its worth it!

Hi Sandy! I just had a double hernia repair, tt, belt lipectomy, breast lift and implants done 2 weeks ago. I can honestly say that it was not bad at all. I am still in the binder and surgical bra with 2 drains still attached, so I haven't been able to enjoy the work my PS did, but I can tell you that from what I see when I remove everything it was the best decision ever! I was not nervous at all for this surgery, I'm not sure why, but I wasn't in the least. I have only had 2 other operations (RNY and Gall Bladder Removal) which I sobbed the entire way into the operating room for. This time, I didn't at all. I am still healing from everything, but I began working again today. I think that if I would have been forced to, I could have returned to work a few days ago. The most painful of my operation is the hernia repair and my left breast (apparantly he had to do a great deal of work on that side). I'm not sure what other information you are looking for, but I would be happy to answer any questions, feel free to email me! I hope you have as wonderful of an experience as I have had! Good Luck.
