Question:
At 14 months out, I am always hungry!
Hi everyone. I just had my second child 6 weeks ago. I am 14 months post op and I am always sooooo hungry! I was so hungry at the end of my pregnancy and just figured that was why, but it hasn't stopped. Every time I get up to feed the baby at night I want to eat. My weight loss has been great....I'm at goal...and I'm not packing on pounds or anything, but I feel like I eat round the clock. Any suggestions? Also, I'm not nursing so that has nothing to do with it. Thanks! — emilyfink (posted on August 11, 2003)

dear emily just take it easy girl i am not as far out as you but i find
that i am to hungry every 2-4 hours and need to eat and am still losing
weight. i think with our new tummies being smaller than they used to be we
get hungey faster and i think when you make smart choices and feed your
body that often it keeps your matabolizm going. if you can try to make
smart choices and give your body what it's asking for if you deprive to
much it could cause you to eat other things you normally wouldn't. even if
it's an occasional treat eat it when the urge hits you so you don't eat
something you didn't really want then eat again because you can't stand
your craving. if you see an increase in your weight then i would worry
about it other wise being at goal you must have been doing something wright
this long. just a guess. kimberly open distal rny 11/12/02 -120lbs

Sometimes there are mechanical failures with our surgery. I need to eat
often, so I have 5 to six healthy meals a day I do not have a mechanical
problem. But a long term post op wrote a good letter about mechanical
failures which I added to my profile, it is near the end of it.

Hi Emily- Congratulations on the birth of your child! You didn't mention
if you are breast feeding or not? I know I was extra hungry when I was.
Good Luck :o)

HI- I am only 5 months post op right now- however I am the mother of 5
girls and each pregnancy was different- With all of them I can totally
remember the hunger following each birth. My OB suggested that it may be
due to the stomach and your other organs "resettling" back into
place- with the baby taking so much room in our abs- our organs all kind of
get squished. Now that you have had the baby your lungs have room for more
air- as well as your stomach- it has room for more food- Don't be too
concerned with this as it will pass in a month or so- Just make the best
food choices and keep plenty of liquids at hand. Things will return to
normal (what ever normal is lol) before you know it. Congrats on your new
little one!
