Question:
Seeking Advice RE: Diarrhea
Help! It seems EVERYTHING I eat or drink (and it doesn't have to be sugar or loaded with fat) I get diarrhea. Even water does this to me. I know this sounds kinda gross, but I average "going" 5,6 or more times a day. And when I gotta go, I gotta go :) I actually woke myself up the other night soaked from the "watery" diarrhea. I've called my dr and they weren't much help. This has been going on for at least 3 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. — katia H. My doc recommended Immodium AD Liquid when I was faced with the same
problem. It seemed to help.

When I first had surgery, my liquid ran straight through me. At my 2 week
check up I told the Dr. and she said I could possible have become lactose
intollerant or that it could be cause from the whey protien I was drinking.
I stopped the whey and the diarrhea slowed down significantly. I can now
use the protien drinks with out a problem. I do however have IBS. so I
often have the runs, but it is better than before I had the surgery. I
hope this helps.

You don't say (and your profile is empty) how far post-op you are, but I
had the same problem for the first 6 weeks or so post op. I'm almost 8
weeks out now and I haven't had any episodes for a couple of weeks. Some
things still cause the diarrhea, but it's not the urgent, uncontrollable
kind.
Good Luck.
