I am 16 mo post op too, while I have not gained any, I havent lost any in 5 months, perhaps you have become comfortable in your "new" bosy and with your ability to eat have you increased the amount of carbs/sugars in your diet? Do you snack on things that are NOT protein? Has your exercise slacked off? I know I can say YES to all of these things- I know that weight gain (all of it) is possible after WLS...do I need to get diligent about my diet, perhaps you need to also? Just a thought-

Matt, I'm here with you, I've been gaining and loosing the same 5-8 for the last 5 months, How-ever I know what's doing it here, It's me ! I haven't followed a diet in the last almost month and a half, and working out, well I've slacked a bit, how-ever I have found out that I no longer dump, I'm able to hold in my tummy allot more food,.... this in it's self is evil, I never really truly liked sugars pre-op, how-ever now I crave donuts and sugars like a big dog.... I know it's not the best..... I've held true to a couple of things still, I haven't and won't touch soda pop of any kind, and I try to wait at least 1 hour after I eat before I drink anything..... My food choices latley have been really CRAPPY, I know in order to continue to loose anymore weight from this point forward I will need to climb back on the wagon, and saddle on up......with thoes 5-8 pounds teetor totting on my tummy, it's awfull.... and depressing.......... I'm an emotional eater, when I'm stressed or depressed I eat...... these last couple of months have been the worst stress wise...... I'm living threw it though... I know how people read the boards and slam others...... with diet issues and councling help from a doctor.... I how-ever think we all need compasion for the other, .....When I was pre-op and read the boards about people not following the outlines, I thought that is was absurd I'll never do that , how-ever we are all human , we all have weakness and strenghts...... In the end each one will triumph to their goal and find peace within. Matt if I can help you any, Please email me. [email protected] Many Hugs as always, Post op 14 months down 133 pounds

Hi Matt ... I'm not that far out, I'm just 13 months out.. and seem to continue losing, however slowly.. about 6-8 pounds a month... maybe a few more when I'm really lucky. I'd guess though, that in order for someone to help.. it would help to know from you what you are or are not doing. I can let you know what's helping me... when I'm perfect.. this is what happens... I do cardio exercise 6 times a week for more than 30 minutes; I do weight training 4 times a week; my calories each day are at least 50% protein and the rest about equal (25%) carbs and fat. I also try to stay under about 1300 calories. I drink a whole bunch of water and I take any opportunity to take the stairs or walk further if I can. That's when I'm perfect... which is RARE. I shoot for those goals.. and I keep track of most everything I eat on http://www.fitday.com. Good luck.. sometimes.. we need to tighten our belts... to tighten our belts...

One more quick thing I thought of this afternoon.. there have been a few posts about gaining ten pounds back over the last few months.. I'd search either ten pounds or bounce back in the library and see what you find that way.

Sometimes there is a bounce-back effect after you get to your goal or lowest weight. My absolute lowest weight was 125, but I average about 133, bouncing from 130 to 136 or so. If you still want to lose more, you might take a look at your diet and rid yourself of some of those carbs that may have crept back in while you weren't looking. www.fitday.com can help you understand how many calories you are eating a day and what your ratio of fat/protein/carb calories is. (Unfortunately, it doesn't count sugar grams.) Also, remember that if you do strength training you may weigh more but be smaller. Keep track of your measurements, too, if you exercise a lot.

Great question and thanks for the answers! I am only 6 1/2 months post-op and feel like I am blowing this whole thing. Dawn is on point about the cravings, being human, etc. I am attempting to get my exercise back on track and watching the carbs. However, the cravings get to me and I am scared of trying things I liked pre-surgery and finding that I can tolerate them! I have lost 109 lbs with about 50 -60 more to go before reaching goal Hopefully I will get there by the surgery anniversary date of January 13, 2004. I want to encourage you and let you know that I'm on the journey with you - both of us will enjoy the successful fruits of our labor. Peace. maj
