Question:
I'm having a burning pain along the skin where th drain was
located. I'm 8 days post-op lap RNY. I had staples and drain removed 6 days post-op. Yesterday, I noticed that every time I movd, I had the burning/pulling pain along the path of where te srain was located. I've had to take more pain medications as well, but this pain is not relieved by the meds. Any ideas? Infection? just healing? I'm waiting for Dr. to open to give him a call. — David F. Didn't you have two drains? I had two drains, one on either side. The
small one was taken out in the hospital. After about 2 1/2 weeks, I
started getting a burning pain where the small drain was. It got to the
point where I could hardly move and all I could do was lay down. It's
been 2 weeks since the pain started and it's finally going away. If it's
the same pain I had, they put one stitch in your muscle. That stitch was
poking into a nerve and I couldn't even wear underwear, nothing could touch
my skin. That's how the dr. knew it was my nerve. Get a heating pad and
put it on the pain site over some clothes so it doesn't get too hot. Heat
promotes circulation and helps the stitch desolve. As long as the site
isn't red, there shouldn't be an infection. Please let me know how you're
doing.
