Question:
Does anyone know if Blue Cross has added BTC in Langhorne, PA to their network?
I was told in May that BTC only had to fill out a survey and they would then be considered in newtwork with Blue Cross. I got insurance approval in May and was told surgery would be scheduled in June. It is now late June and I haven't heard anything from BTC. Why is it taking so long? I see for lots of people on here a date was schdeuled within a few days or weeks after approval. Thanks — kjm205 (posted on June 24, 2003)

Don't count on it! I was told the same thing in March, that they would
have a BCBS in-network contract in place by the end of May. I changed
surgeons in May to get an in-network hospital. The BTC strung me along. I
also read a post that the BCBS in Nichigan canceled their contract with the
BTC. Good Luck!

Hi Kelly, If I were you, I wouldn't wait around. I was told this same
thing back in September of 2002, and I still would've been waiting. Don't
get me wrong, BTC has a good program, but if I were you, I would start
researching other surgeons in the area. I had my Lap RNY done at the
University of Pennsylvania by Dr. Williams. It's a great hospital and Dr.
Williams is the best. There are a few other good surgeons associated with
the hospital - Dr. Kirkland and Dr. Raper. Even though their consults can
be booked solid for up to a year, there is always the possibility of a
cancellation. It would be a good idea to call all of them and make
appointments. Just a suggestion. Have you also consulted your physician?
I was referred to Dr. Williams by my PCP. Good luck and feel free to email
me with any questions...
