Question:
Does anyone dump off Pure Protein Bars?
I had 2 Pure Protein Blueberry Cheesecake bars today and I'm having one of the worst dumping episodes ever! Each bar has only 7 grams of sugar. Any idea what could be causing this? How far apart did you eat the Pure Protein Bars. I ate them for months
with no problem. Could something else you ate have caused the dumping? I
only ate one a day, though. My surgeon asks us to only use one protein
supplement a day and to get the rest from food.

I ate one on Wednesday of this week and dumped for my first time. Yes, it
tasted awesome. I apparently can't handle it. I was so sick! I will
never try that again.

My nutritionist says the nutritional info on protein bars isn't accurate,
that there are more sugars than listed and therefore, more calories than
the bar says. It may be why you're dumping.

If they were pretty close together, even a couple hours, I'm thinking you
dumped on them. The total was 14 grams of sugar, and that is alot. Many
people dum on 5 alone. Usually it lessens a bit after we're further
post-op, and some can handle sugar from the start. But I would space them
further apart or just eat one. Goodluck to you :-)

By dumping, do yo mean diarrhea or classic dumping? Heart palpitations,
nausea, sweats, dry mouth......?

I haven't tried the Pure Protien brand but have had dumping (hot and
sweaty, then freezing cold, heart racing, short of breath, lightheaded,
shaky, have to sleep it off for an hour kind of dumping) with a couple of
different bars. My worst being just yesterday, at church of all places,
with an Odessy bar (that I only ate half of) which, only had 4 grams of
sugars, and 25 add'l "non-impact" carbs, *if there is such a
thing* in the whole bar, plus 30 grams of protien. I ended up in that
sleepy/semi-consious, almost drugged like state for an hour on one of the
Sunday school room floors! So, yes, it can happen. The only thing that
the bars I've dumped on seem to have in common is Malitol (sp?). So, I
don't know what the deal is....but I will certainly never try another bar
on my way out the door again! The worst part of all is that, like you, the
last bar I dumped on was the one I had found that I liked best of all so
far. So, I guess it's back to the drawing board. Good luck!
