Question:
I need advice on what foods to bring.
Hello All, Keep up the great work!!! I am accompanying 13 youth in my church to a missions trip to Choctaw Mississippi in the middle of July. I am aware I need to bring along my own water and am allowed to bring 1 duffel bag of foodstuffs (of course non perishable). Any suggestions? I will be in the field for 10 days. I am thinking beef and turkey jerky, nuts, soychips anything else would be appreciated. Anyone with a similar experience would be appreciated also, the last thing I want is to be hospiatlized during this endeavor. Bless you all "IN GOD WE TRUST". — Lisa M. (posted on June 13, 2003)

How about pouches of tuna? Can you cook? Cans of chili, etc.
Cans of chicken, crackers, instant cup of soup (add hot water)
Have fun!

If you'll have access to cold water take some protein powder and a shaker.
Have fun! Don't forget your vitamins too.

Homemade trail mix, seeds, nuts, dried berries, meat sticks (moister than
jerky and a nice change), hard cheese (doesn't need refridgeration so long
as it doens't get hot), whole wheat crackers (if you eat them) and peanut
butter. Have fun and be safe!

How about: small cans of fruit in juice, small containers of unsweetened
applesauce, packets of plain oatmeal (can be mixed with hot water), small
cans of V-8 (if you like it) and so forth. Check out local Health Food
stores. Our local store has a treat called "Just The Cheese" - a
small bag is 2 servings, and each serving is 10 grams of protein. It is
little round wafers of baked cheese, and they come in different flavors
like pizza, white cheddar and jalapeno. Those stores usually have a good
selection of protein bars and pre-made, canned protein drinks (if you can
tolerate them!) "Steak Bitess" another good product if you can
find them.. They come in pouches and are made of beef, but bite-sized and
softer than jerky. Good luck and have a great time!
