Question:
I'm looking into getting my medic alert bracelet.
I'm going to simply put on there... "RNY Gastric bypass patient. Do not blindly insert NG tube." Anything else that you would suggest I add? Also...the site where I'm purchasing it from has the option to include our name. Should I put my name on my bracelet? — Kim L. (posted on June 1, 2003)

That sounds good. I have heard it worded a little differently but same
idea. If you are getting your bracelet from the Medic Alert company, then
your name is not neccesary. They keep all of your medications listed,
history, and even next of kin information. You are identified by a number
and when a medical professional calls in they are given all of that
information. Personally I am more comfortable with medic alert than
companies that don't have 24 hour service. However, if one were to go with
a different company then their name is not a bad idea. The only down fall
to medic alert is a yearly membership fee. $35 the frist year and $20 each
year there after. But a lot to offer in the unexpected.
