Question:
6 days Post-Op and I have a terrible sore throat, what can I do?

I'm still taking pain med which I hate, it's not really accomplishing anything at this point except making me feel woosie. Dr. just prescribed Amoxycillan(spelling)but it's only every 12 hours. My throat is killing me, any suggestions?    — smangani (posted on May 29, 2003)

My sore throat was from the NG tube and I used sugar free popsicles and ice chips. The posicles were great because they soothed it and took out the swelling. Good luck

The old stand by: warm salt water gargle three or four times a day.

Chloroseptic (spelling?) Spray (not the lozenges). It is over the counter and you spray it into the back of your throat. It numbs and coats the back of the throat. Good Luck -

Hi, Is it possible that your sore throat is from the breathing tube inserted during surgery?? I did not have the sore throat from my WLS but did from one or 2 others. If that is the case, it qwill go away by itself. Not much helped me. I agree that it is uncomfortable.
