I really like it. I've been going for about 2 1/2 weeks now 3 times a week and it's actually kind of fun. The cost was 50. initiation fee which I think is pretty standard for a new opening. It was reduced from 150. for the Grand Opening. The monthly fee if you have Check draft for mine is 29.00. 35.00 if you pay month to month yourself by cash or check. there are 10 or more "machines" they work on a shock absorber type things and they are a type of resistance training I guess you'd call it. You get a workout on both the "up" and the "down" if you get my meaning. It isn't like lifting weight with your muscle and then just letting it down. You have to both push up and pull down so you get a really good workout in a shorter time (30 minutes, then you stretch and your done). In between machines you run in place or march or dance or whatever to keep you heart rate up. The music in the background tells you when to move to the next station on the circuit. That's pretty much it. Good Luck. Penny 7/31/02 20 lbs to goal :-)

Prices are different for different centers.(I am in So Cal) My reduced start up fee was $75 with a $39 per month fee without using the monthly bank draft or $29 per month with bank draft and one year commitment. I have been going for about 3 weeks and for someone who has not exercised in years its a wonderful start....

My best friend who is 300 lbs. joined curves, and she has never realy exercised in her life, has been going for a little over a month now 3x a week, and I can already see a change in her, and she said her knees no longer hurt her, it has done wonders, for the 30 min. a day she puts in. Seems to be not as strenuos for people our size. After my WLS the 24th I will joining as well.

Hi there I see you had the same surgeon I had! I live about 60 miles from you and the Curves here in Howell was a one time fee of $59 to join, $29 a month if you signed up for a whole year or $39 if you wanted to go month to month. I signed up for the year so the total was $88. When you sign up bring your checkbook cause they will ask for a voided check (they take the $29 out of your checking acct every month). It is an exercise place with different machines that you go around to and then every 30 seconds you will hear a recording of a voice that says "please change stations now" . I really like Curves, and I wasnt one to ever really exercise before. The people exercising there aren't the skinny minnies you usually see on TV advertising exercise equipment. In fact, the Curves that I go to has quite a few people that have had the gastric bypass surgery. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I know some people who work at/attend "Curves". It's a very popular place with three sites near me, they do a good business. It is for exercise, it is not another Weight Watchers.
