Question:
I am 29 mo post op, experiencing severe right upper quadrant pain. and my CT scan
shows widespread mesenteric and body wall edematous changes. Does anyone have any idea what this means or what can cause this type of abdominal cavity swelling? Thanks. Hugs, — Gina Landers (posted on May 10, 2003)

My swelling and severe pain turned out to be a hernia. I would check into
the possibility.

Hi, it could possibily be a condition called costochondritis.
Which I had before and after surgery, it is when the sternum and sometimes
ribcage on the right side under the breast bone gets inflamed, and that is
called inflamation of the cartilage. It can cause pain and vcan ve very
uncomfortable especially when you had surgery too your muscles get inflamed
there. i take ib profin for the inflamation or you can ask your doc about
it. hope this info helps. good luck to you.
