Question:
Dehydration and Running a 1/2 Marathon
Because you can only take in small amounts of fluids how do you prevent dehydration? What do you do if you become dehydrated? — John K. (posted on April 29, 2003)

Hi John! Well, I'm currently in training for a complete marathon and have
yet to run into any dehydration problems. I'm 8 months out and am able to
drink water almost like I was pre-surgery. Granted, I can't quite gulp too
quickly and I can't sit there and guzzle an entire 20ozs of water at a
time...but I drink a good 4 ozs maybe every 10 mins and have been great!
My long runs are currently up to about 18 miles so a bit beyond the 1/2
marathon point. You should be ok..just drink steadily. Good Luck!
