Question:
I am 3-weeks post op. I feel like I am very uneasy and jittery.
It started just in the evening when I was getting ready for bed, but it is now happening during the day as well. It's an uneasy, agitated, nervous feeling. Anyone else experience this? — Kim L. (posted on April 28, 2003)

I've read that if you are deficient in potassium, and calcium, it can be a
factor in restless leg syndrome. Are you getting in all of your calcium?
The best source of potassium is a banana, but refer to your post-op eating
plan before you eat something you aren't supposed to. That's about all I
can think of. Hope that helps!

I'm wondering if your blood sugar dips and gives you these symptoms. Maybe
you could eat some protein to help level it out. Best of luck.

Yes, I had the same feeling after the 1st & 2nd week home from surgery.
Then I realized I was not doing all of the protien for my type of surgery.
Originally I was going to have the proximal which recommends 90 grms of
protien a day. Well I ended up having the dystal done and that needs 150
grms of protien a day. After I uped it for a couple of days, I started
feeling better.

Just hang in there it gets better with time. Also make sure you are getting
some protien and also your water, Take-care.

Yes!!! I did have that feeling but never heard anyone else mention it. I
did think about it a lot and chalked it up to several things: body
recovering from trauma of surgery, ending the taking of pain meds,
anesthesia leaving my body and not getting enough fluids or protein. As
well as the drastic reduction in calories (like someone else mentioned,
affecting your blood sugar levels).
Hope you feel better soon!

You should check with your nutritionist. You'd be surprised that it can be
something very minor. Mine was that I needed more calories.
Best wishes!
