Question:
I'm having a real problem with summer clothes
I've lost 167lbs in 13 months and my skin is so loose that with the light fabrics you can see everything jiggle when I walk. The thought of putting on a bathing suit and exposing my legs with the massive folds of hanging flesh is more than I can bare(pun intended). How come none of the smaller sized bathing suits come with a bra in it? Normal sized women have boobs. I was fine wearing jeans because they kind of held everything together but now that it's getting warm I feel like a bowl of jello. Does anyone out there have loose skin on their calves and was it taken care of with the thighlift or lower body lift? Sorry I know this is a jumble of questions but I kind of just fraked out after bathing suit shopping. — Alison N. (posted on April 27, 2003)

Alison- have you thought of a tankini? They come in all sorts of varieties
and can usually be found anywhere. Maybe we're just shopping at different
places, but almost every tankini I see has a shelf bra in it. You can get
the type where they are boy-cut shorts and a tank-top, so it covers some
extra skin. Old Navy, Target have these, or you can try catalogs like
Victoria Secret, Newport News, L.L. Bean- they all have a large variety.
Goodluck to you!

I feel your pain. I need all new clothing and its so nice to buy things in
smaller sizes, but My arms are just flabby skin and I am trying to find
things with 3/4 sleeves. Sorry, to say that a thigh lift will not do
anything for the skin on your calves. They have to specifically target
those areas.

yes tankinis are great. I also bought a great bathing suit through the
Land's End catalog. I bought a pair of matching shorts and it is difficult
to see that they aren't one piece. The shorts hide my upper thighs nicely.
Lands End also has fabulous tankinis.

I just bought 2 suits - both at a discount store. I personally like swim
suits with a skirt. Wear some sort of cover up (a big shirt type of thing)
over it and pretty much everything is covered. Wouldn't it be nice to find
something that would squish all the extra skin and flab where we want it to
go (like away!) I'm afraid I will slap myself silly if I wave to someone at
the pool this summer. (Arm flab alert!)LOL!

Try A. B. Lambdin catalog or website for swimsuits with bras in them. Those
shelf bras just don't cut the muster for some of us! I have the same
problem this summer but I'm just toughing it out most of the time in capris
and 3/4 sleeve shirts. there's really not a whole lot you can do to cover
everything in a swimsuit.

hi there :) wow do i know what you feel like! i just had a tt very recently
and have lost over 200 lbs now but oh the the skin on the legs n arms,
yuk!! im with the other poster, alot of my new cloths have concisted of
capris and the 3/4 length sleeves, i cannot get away with the short sleeves
at all. if you cannot find a bathing suit with a good bra in it, perhaps
youll need to get one of those push up bras without the staps and keep it
soley for swimming, i may do this if i have to. do try the capris and the
3/4th sleeves, they are very becoming and flattering and i do look very
good in that style, you will too! :) best of luck to you! :)

Carrie's reply made me think of something - I have seen bras that have
clear plastic straps. I think I may have seen them in a Lane Bryant
catalogue, but I know my son's girlfriend is a big fan of them, and the
plastic is very soft and smooth. I know I have seen them in stores in
regular sizes. That might work with a swim suit.

I have to second the Lands End bathing suit thing.. they have many
options... check their website... but they have grogeous suits.. with nice
bras in them.. and fairly good coverage.. shorts that match... I just got
the first bathing suit in my life that wasn't BLACK.. from lands end.. wild
purple.. I'm so excited about it.. and it fits me very nicely. I have the
hanging skin... everywhere, but you know what? I'm kind of proud of it...
well, sort of... *grin* do you exercise? build muscle with weight
training? It won't fix it all, because its skin.. but it might help some
things.. at least a little... Good luck! I'm having fun buying a whole new
summer wardrobe... and hoping I'll do the same thing this winter too...
