Question:
Has anyone ever had the Mason Procedure
I would just like to know if anyone has ever had the Mason procedure and if it worked for you. Or are you really losing but extremly slow? I had my surgery on the 31 of January and I have lost 26 kilos to date. Anyone who had this surgery i would appreciate a reply, thanks tee — Tee B. (posted on April 24, 2003)

I didn't realize surgeons were still performing Dr. Masons procedures. My
mother had the Mason shunt in 1976, and from my understandings that
procedure was abandoned during the early 80's. However, she did quite well
with the procedure, its not much different from the RNY. She lost from 235
to 125 in 9 months and now 27 years later wears a 14. She does have to
diet to maintain that...but I figure that far out, we all will.

Please tell me what a "Mason' procedure is. I had one of the earlier
wt. loss surgeries in 1981 but I don't think it was called this. I'de like
to know just what it is. Thanks
